At DeLuca Plastic Surgery, we have continued to serve our patients and the surround community using a recently exploding part of our practice – virtual consultations.

One of the most discussed topics is during these consultations is skin care. Our patients are asking now more than ever what they can do to keep their skin young and healthy looking during these stressful and uncertain times. They can do their own nails and color their hair, however, social isolation is forcing us to seek alternatives to Botox and Fillers to continue to keep lines and wrinkles at bay. In this post we are going to cover some secrets to what you can do at home when Botox and Fillers are not an option.

The cornerstones of skin care at home are cleansing, detoxification, hydration, Vitamin A, and antioxidants, and sunscreen. This approach to anti-aging doesn’t change with quarantine or social isolation. If anything, the stress of these uncertain times will only accelerate the aging process. This post breaks down our secrets for keeping your skin young and healthy looking – with a focus on the premium skin care line developed by Dr. David Tauber – Ageless Millennial Aesthetics from Estéticoceuticals.

Nights

Skin care begins at night.

The Nights skin care line begins with an exfoliating coconut face scrub to instantly rejuvenate your skin with a blend of nourishing vitamins and fruit extracts. After rinsing, apply the Detoxifying Charcoal Mask, removing after 10 minutes to remove toxins and exfoliate the skin.

Following the mask, apply the Moonglow Rentiyl Serum – an effective but non-irritating Vitamin A derivative that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Finish up by applying the Detox Revitalizing Cream, a deep moisturizing cream with a lavender scent enhances the skin’s ability to recharge during the nightly repair process.

Days

Daytime skin care helps protect against the damaging rays of the sun correct fine lines and wrinkles of the eye and lips.

During the day our skin is bombarded by the damaging effects of the sun. Our Days skin care line, in combination with sunscreen, helps protect against the damaging rays of the sun, prevent cellular damage, and rehydrate and restore suppleness to the delicate tissues of the eyelids and lips.

AM - Pro-C Illuminating Antioxidant Serum

Our Pro-C Illuminating Antioxidant Serum begin by absorbing the damaging free radicals that cause damage to the skin and accelerate aging. Restoring moisture to the face is achieved through a combination of the Matrixyl Rapid Eye Corrector Serum and Revitalisant Hydrating Cream. Our Eye Corrector Serum fights the appearance of fatigue, aging, and photodamage and leaves skin hydrated and smooth, providing dramatic results. The Revitalisant Hydrating Cream instantly hydrates dry skin, renews tired skin with long-lasting effects, leaving your face feeling smooth and nourished. Finally, our NEW Enhancing Lip Plumper helps support the look of fuller,  softer, silkier lips.

These products, by themselves each contribute to a balanced daily skin care regimen – tailored to help your skin survive the stress and anxiety of social distancing. Combined together, these products work in concert to help to improve skin turnover, repair the damaging effects of pollution and sun exposure, smooth the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, and hydrate the skin.

What is a breast lift?

A breast lift (mastopexy) is powerful procedure that can lift the nipple, reduce excess skin, and reshape the breasts to sit higher on the chest in a more youthful position. A breast lift is appropriate for patients with breasts that are adequately sized but saggy; but can also be done in combination with an implant to add volume (breast lift - augmentation), to adjust for asymmetry, or to improve unusually shaped breasts (tuberous breasts). The gold-standard method of assessing the need for a breast lift is the "pencil test." Standing in front of a mirror, lift the breast and lay a pencil in the fold under the breast and allow the breast to settle over the pencil. Look at the position of the nipple in relation to the pencil. [caption id="attachment_5884" align="aligncenter" width="450"]Pencil Test For Determining Degree of Breast Ptosis Pencil Test For Breast Ptosis[/caption] The lower the nipples and breast are below the pencil and the more excess skin you have, the greater the chance you will need a breast lift and the more of a breast lift you will need. If your nipple and a majority of your breast are at or above the pencil (Normal), you will likely get a great result from a breast augmentation alone. Larger implants can shift this equation slightly for patients that have borderline ptosis (Grade 1). The trade off with a breast lift, is a scar on the breast around the nipple with a possible extension down towards the breast crease creating a lollipop or possibly an inverted “T” pattern. The choice of incision is based on multiple factors including patient anatomy, surgeon preference, and patient preference. What surgery is right for me?

A detailed examination will help delineate the best surgical treatment. The goal of a breast breast lift is to create an aesthetic breast with the size, shape, and projection that is desired by the patient. The decision about the type of surgery and, if needed, the size, shape, and position of the implants is based on the patient’s anatomy, the type and size of the implant, and patient's preferences. During your consultation, measurements of the breasts are used as a starting point to recommend a surgery and in-office sizing and digital three-dimensional computer simulations are used to help guide your implant choices.
