Virtual Consultations

COVID-19 has changed how we interact with the world around us. Gloves and masks are commonplace and social distancing has shuttered or dramatically curtailed many businesses. At DeLuca Plastic Surgery we have been taking a carefully crafted approach towards serving our patients and the surrounding community while staying safe.
One of the biggest changes our board-certified surgeons have seen over the last few weeks is a surge in the demand for online, virtual consultations. We have always done virtual consultations, however, the push to socially isolate has taken virtual consultations from a secondary service we offered for out-of-town and out-of-state patients to a mainstay of our daily practice.
During a virtual consultation, patients contact us through our online form, Facebook Messenger, or by phone at 518-724-2444. After a short screening interview with our staff, patients are scheduled for a consultation. At this point, patients are given detailed instruction to photograph and share their areas of concern – including correct lighting, positioning, and angles. A picture is worth a thousand words, and a good get of photos allows our surgeons to do a specific evaluation of problem areas.
During the virtual phone consultation, patient pictures are reviewed and a detailed history is taken. A discussion of the pictures and the patients goals then ensues. Over the course of a half hour to an hour, patients gain an appreciation of what we have to offer and what the timing and cost for those procedures may be. Our surgeons personally answer questions and help guide our patients through their surgical choices. Digital, three-dimensional computer simulations are used to help guide your implant choices and help you, our patient, visualize the new you.
These discussions are bolstered by the wealth of information found on our website including articles and videos about the surgeries and procedures we offer, before and after photo galleries of the work of both Dr. William DeLuca and Dr. David Tauber, and 5-Star Reviews from previous patients.
Following this consultation, patients are sent a packet of information that includes information about the surgeries or procedures that were discussed, a specific quote for the set of procedures planned for them, and a road map on how to proceed with surgery. Patients are urged to follow us online on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tik-Tok, and Snapchat, join our newsletter for more information and specials, and to email us with any follow-up questions.
This consultation process is very similar to our traditional consultation process, however, in the time of COVID-19, this process happens virtually – without even stepping food in the office.
